DUI Sentencing in Mecklenburg County

Sentencing under G.S. 20-179 in Mecklenburg County uses six levels based on the facts of each case.   • Level Four: fines up to $500, 48 hours to 120 days
  • Level Five: fines up to $200, 24 hours to 60 days

All DUI convictions in Mecklenburg County require a substance abuse assessment and compliance with recommended treatment. Under G.S. 20-138.5, habitual DWI is a felony for drivers with three or more prior convictions in ten years. The implied consent law under G.S. 20-16.2 requires chemical testing.
